Ronald D. Long is President, Senior Auctioneer, and Appraiser at Charlton Hall Galleries, Inc., an internationally recognized fine art and antiques auction firm located in Columbia, South Carolina, which has served the southeast since 1929. Mr. Long joined the firm in 1976 and became president in 1996. Since then, Art and Auction Magazine named Charlton Hall Galleries as one of the top ten auction houses in America. The gallery has enjoyed an international and national reputation for providing fine art and antiques to seasoned collectors as well as beginning buyers. Its services have been requested by bank trust departments, numerous attorneys engaged in estate planning, as well as several fine art museums worldwide.

When Mr. Long joined the firm, he assumed the position of assistant appraiser and buyer to Charlton F. Hall, Jr., who was then president of the gallery. Mr. Long gained much of his expertise and knowledge while traveling in England, Europe, and the United States acquiring antiques for the retail division of Charlton Hall Galleries. During this period of time, he built strong relationships with some of the leading American, English, and European antique dealers.

Mr. Long continued his education in fine arts at George Washington University in its appraisal program. As an adjunct instructor at Midlands Technical College, he teaches courses on antiques and auctioneering. He is also a member of the Decorative Arts Trust, a member of the National and South Carolina Auctioneers Associations, and President of Antiques & Fine Art Appraisers, Inc. He is a consultant to the Collections Committee of the Bowie Arts Center at Erskine College and also continues to advise various prominent private collectors.
